Sugar is a 24 year old male Umbrella cockatoo who came to our sanctuary in 2016 after working in the educational program of an AZA accredited institution. Before arriving at our sanctuary, Sugar was exhibiting FDB (feather damaging behavior). Although this behavior continues, it has decreased tremendously allowing his feather condition to improve dramatically. As a typical Umbrella cockatoo, Sugar is extremely intelligent and very high energy! He makes up his own games, one of which is similar to bowling. Sugar also loves to put random containers over his head and he uses full rolls of toilet paper to decorate (wrap) his cage! His girlfriend's name is Bear Bear.
Favorite treats: dried green grapes, almonds in shell and if he could have them all the time. . . peanuts (no shell and roasted).
Favorite toy/activity: anything he can throw and chase; foraging for treats.
